I used Rust-oleum Hammered in Black. I gave the chairs a good wipe down and dry and then only needed one coat to get a beautiful black finish.

Before & After |
I decided to go with a black and white theme and incorporate the classic buffalo checker plaid. Our house is brown so having black on top of brown may not be everyones taste, but I love the contrast it gives and that it goes against the grain. I already had pillows, so I researched Amazon and found some great outdoor pillow covers which also saved money since most pillows cost at least $30 each.

Last but not least I added a black and white checker rug underneath our "Home Sweet Home" mat and fixed up a door sign by painting it white and then tracing our house numbers in black. I am SO SO happy with how it turned out. Simple and small fixes really made the world of a difference. Spray paint can fix anything in my opinion. Next year, I'd like to add a few planters and flowers, but we'll stick with low maintenance for this year. Thankfully I finished this project just in time for our porch pictures to document life at home during this quarantine. Let me know what you think!
