Christmas Organization with Free Printable Labels!

As we approach a brand new year, I always like to assess what my goals are for the future. I wouldn't consider them resolutions, just things I can continue to try to achieve year by year. I think we can all agree that we are ready to move on from 2020. Life looked way different than many of us probably expected, even though we went in with high expectations. Right now, let's continue to hold our heads high, as we venture into the unknown of 2021 - there were blessings in disguise last year, even though it was hard, and for that I'm thankful. God is ultimately in control and he holds the future, so I rest.

My main goal in 2020 was to begin a journey of organization in our home. I had a vision in mind of going through each space and purchasing products that would aid in organizing most efficiently. I was able to work on a few smaller spaces, and I'm so happy with how they turned out. It really does make a major difference when you have products that work for you. However, it's not realistic for me to buy all the organization products I need at once. It adds up, y'all!

As I go into this year, I'm continuing this theme and goal, but this time it will be without the pressure to purchase. There will be times where I can do a large update and share organization products that are working for me, and other times there will be smaller updates where I use what I have on hand to get things in order. I think that resonates most with real life.

Now let's get on to why I'm writing this blog - Christmas organization.

I don't know about you but I'm ready to take down the decorations, deep clean the house, open the windows, and start fresh. Below I'm sharing 5 small tips to help you begin the process of packing it all away! I've included links to some of my most used products when it comes to Christmas in case you're in the market for that, as well as *FREE PRINTABLE LABELS* that you can easily add to your storage bins.

FIVE CHRISTMAS ORGANIZATION TIPS

1. EDIT YOUR COLLECTION

Now is the perfect opportunity to assess what you have and see if there’s anything you don’t like anymore, or you can’t see yourself using in the future. Make a donation or sell pile and make room for things in the future you may like better.

2. USE WHAT YOU HAVE

Maybe it’s not in the budget this year to buy storage containers. Use items you may already have... Amazon boxes, shoe boxes, tissue paper. Look around and see if you can make do with what you have.

3. SHOP AFTER CHRISTMAS SALES

If you do have it in the budget for purchasing storage supplies, most of the big box stores have BIG after Christmas sales. This is a great way to pick up storage containers at 50 to 90% off. Make sure to follow me on instagram - I will try to keep you updated on stories with any great deals I’m finding.

4.  KEEP LIKE ITEMS TOGETHER

Rather than categorize items by room, keep them together with like items. I personally like to mix up my decor every year, so things never really stay the same room by room.

5.  MAKE A LIST

Make a list of everything in each container and tape it to the top of the box or coordinate it with an excel spreadsheet. This one may be a bit over the top but if you have a lot of square footage and a lot of decor, this could help. Here’s an example.

Simply put the letter “A” on a storage label on the outside of your container. On an excel spreadsheet, create an “A” column with everything that is contained inside this box. Ex: Garland, small Christmas trees.

When it’s time to pull out the decor next year, print out your spreadsheet and you’ll know exactly which boxes you want to work on first.
